This opening test PGN contains 500 positions from pieces of the following opening books (Duplicate positions have been removed w/ pgnscanner): Lc0 Test Suite (~45 positions) Balsa_top50 (~45 positions) Noomen 2 plies TCEC tournament book (~45 positions [Highly unusual or irregular lines removed.]) Silver Suite (~45 positions) Silver Gambit Suite (~20 positions [Lines > +/- 100 cp removed.]) Pohl Super GM 8 plies (~235 positions [Openings > +/- 0.45 cp removed.]) Contested positions, selected by the Westport Chess Club of Kansas City, Missouri (~65 positions) The current breakdown is roughly: 1. b3/4 = 9 games (1.8%) 1. c4 = 82 games (16.4%) 1. d4 = 160 games (32%) 1. e4 = 172 games (34.4%) 1. Nf3 = 63 games (12.6%) 1. f4 or 1. g3/4 = 14 games (2.8%) -The total plies of all 500 games is 4,401. -The average plies per game = 8.8 (Call it 9, which equals 4.5 moves.) -Sixty-six percent of games will be either 1. d4 or 1. e4. I think having 1/3 be other openings gives variety, while still keeping true to natural chess play. -All "Westport Test Positions" have been picked in similar fashion to the Silver Suite. Each position is brought to a point where the engines have a choice of more than one good, fair option. Some lines are short; some are longer. Regardless, the lines stop at an interesting place for the engines. Questions can be directed to @WestportChessClub on FB, Twitter, or Instagram. Version 1.2
